In spite of strikes and floods we arrived back at Poihles on 31st May. To our horror she was not where we had left her, re-parked just up the canal. We later heard that the canal had been drained which was why she was moved but it was a nasty moment when all we could see were hire boats.
The new water tank is wonderful, plenty of water which doesn’t taste odd! The motors started first time, unfortunately we are now waiting for a hose to repair one.
Simon U. and Jude were our first crew who joined us in time to go down the Bezier Staircase. The tourist office is having major renovations which meant that Simon had to use a spanner to dismantle the fence so we could let them in. We spent a couple of nights in Villeneuve Bezier where there was such an extraordinary hail storm that the visitors who had come for a drink had to shelter and we had every saucepan out to catch the drips.
Then back to Bezier to pick up Judy from the train. A night in Vias and then a night in Bessan and we are now in Marseillan for the week to change crews and have a rest. Most scary experience was seeing snakes swimming just after we had got out of the river. Simon U. spotted the biggest turtle we have seen on the river. The new barbeque is working well and there is an abundance of early summer fruit.
