We are back in our favourite port for the week and have caught up with friends on boats and on shore. There are huge renovations going on in the port and in the town so it is very noisy and always something to see. The building next to us is undergoing demolition? Maybe, it is hard to tell the one next to it is being restored and chunks of stone and rubble falling off are a hazard. The man in the apartment further along is worried about his cats.

We had a lovely time Bezier catching up with Antony and Vincente (Sara’s cousin and wife who live there). On Friday there is a stunning flower market and I chose scented pelargoniums for Lady Mary’s deck this year. There was also a big brocante on Saturday and we managed to find a few bargains.

The trip down the staircase felt relatively easy this year, a very still morning and just one friendly hire boat in the locks with us, I even managed the sharp turn at the bottom OK. The canal is not crowded and everyone seems very relaxed although we were disappointed when we went up the river to Bessan and found no space so had to turn around and come back. It did mean that the boat got a good clean. We then spent the night on a quiet bank before heading on into Marseillan on Monday morning.

Our first visitor, Alex, arrives at Marseillan Plage to-day.
