We have stopped at Villeneuve Beziers after a windy morning negotiating a flock of little girls in electric boats without many adults. However we have found wonderful showers and a washing machine so I feel clean for what seems the first time in weeks.

Val and Colin and Martha set off for Spain after visiting us and we put Tania on the train to start her pilgrimage walk yesterday. So no crew until we meet Dave and Siobhan in Narbonne on Friday. I am hoping that it won’t be so windy as we go up the locks from Beziers.

The circular lock at Agde was fun. What an amazing feat of engineering. We had a good explore in the ancient part of the town and a wonderful refreshing swim in the river, it seemed a lot warmer than the sea.

The beach at Vias Plage was hot and crowded but the water was clear and there were lots of little crabs and happy children.
