We arrived in Bezier after a long wait for the staircase. We had arrived at the top before 8:00am and it was 2.00 pm before we went down. Free wine tasting and a lunch with smoked trout and more wine helped pass the time.

Port Neuf at Bezier now has power and water and a security guard with a not very fierce dog at night time, two large tame dogs shared the shift. Kassie arrived by train and Antony joined us for dinner. We had drinks on the quay to avoid being smoked out by the chicken cooking on the bar b q. See menus on Fernhill Dinners website.

This morning Kassie and I walked up through the poets garden and visited the children’s fun fair, a collection of beautiful old carousels, a puppet theatre and old fashioned sweetie stalls. A lovely young man started one of the carousels so we could ride the horses. Siobhan has been shopping big time and we are now about to head off along the canal having fed the ducks on the remains of breakfast bread.
